Partly-printed DS as president, one page, 13.5 x 18, June 9, 1882. President Arthur appoints Thomas Wilson as "Commissary of Subsistence with the rank of Major, in the service of the United States." Nicely signed at the conclusion by President Chester A. Arthur, and countersigned by Secretary of War Robert Todd Lincoln. Handsomely matted and framed with a medallion featuring Arthur's likeness to an overall size of 18.5 x 26.5. In fine condition, with some fading to the handwritten portions of text, not affecting readability.
