TLS signed “Winston S. Churchill,” one page, 7.5 x 9.5, personal letterhead, December 6, 1955. Churchill writes to Willy Sax. In full: “Thank you so much for your letter of good wishes and for the special kind of Schnaps [sic] made from William pears which you sent to me for my birthday. It is a most agreeable gift.” The recipient (1898–1964) was a Swiss manufacturer of paints and a longtime correspondent of Churchill’s who later wrote a book about his relationship with the esteemed statesman.
