On the death of one of Britain’s most prominent public figures: “You know my feelings for your dear Father too well for me to tell you of them”

TLS signed “W,” one page, 7.5 x 9.5, personal letterhead, June 10, 1964. Churchill writes to Max, the son of British-Canadian politician and business tycoon Lord Beaverbrook (1879–1964), who had died on the previous day. In full: “I share your grief. You know my feelings for your dear Father too well for me to tell you of them. I am happy to think that you will carry on as he would have wished.” In fine condition, with a subtle touch of wrinkling, faint erasure trace, and mailing fold touching signature.
