Important French artist and ceramist (1845–1917) best known for his distinctive metallic, iridescent, and luster glazes. His works in pottery now take a place among the most characteristic—and desirable—examples of decorative arts in the Art Nouveau style. Scarce original ink sketch of three shapely vases of typical Massier form on a sheet of “La Poterie du Golfe Juan” letterhead, 8.25 x 10.5, signed “Clément Massier, Golfe-Juan (Alpes Maritinies),” no date (circa 1890s). Lovely! In very good condition, with slight scattered bleeding to signature, mild even toning, ink and pencil secretarial notations, a few wrinkles, horizontal fold (with tiny edge separation), and two small holes to background, well away from drawings and signature.
