Declaration of Independence: Benjamin Harrison

Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Virginia (1726-1791). Harrison was the father of President William Henry Harrison and great-grandfather of President Benjamin Harrison. LS signed “Benj Harrison,” one page, 7.25 x 9, November 22, 1783. Letter to an unidentified gentleman. In part: “The enclosed letter from Mr. Mercer one of our delegates in congress came to hand late yesterday as the amount sent with it and the copy of the Massachusets [sic] imposed bill may be acceptable. I beg the favor of you to lay them before the assembly.” Letter has been professionally inlaid to a 9.25 x 11 off-white sheet In fine condition, with slight show-through from docketing on reverse, a bit of scattered light toning, and light previous storage folds.
