Less than two years after Independence, the Signer repays “Eighteen dollars…for interest due on Money borrowed by the United States”

Partly-printed DS, signed “Fr. Hopkinson,” one page, onionskin-weight, 8.25 x 3.75, February 25, 1779. Continental Sight draft payable to Isaac Sidman for “Eighteen dollars…for interest due on Money borrowed by the United States.” Document is also endorsed on the reverse by William Bingham, American financier, political leader, and founder of the Bank of North America. In fine condition, with light show-through from docketing on reverse, small spot of ink erosion, and lightly trimmed edges. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
