Signer of the United States Constitution from Pennsylvania (1744–1800) and first governor of that state. Partly-printed DS, signed “Tho. Mifflin,” one page, 13.25 x 8.25, March 3, 1794. As governor of Pennsylvania, Thomas Mifflin orders a land survey from Surveyor General Daniel Brodhead, in part: "Whereas John Russell…hath requested to take up four hundred acres of land adjoining Land this day granted to William Russell, in the country of Luzerne…for which he agrees to pay, immediately,…fifty shillings per hundred acres, in gold, silver, paper-money of this State…These are therefore, to authorise and require you to survey, or cause to be surveyed, unto the said John Russell, at the place aforesaid, according to the method of townships appointed." Signed in the upper left by Governor Thomas Mifflin. In very good to fine condition, with dampstaining to the bottom edge, and old tape repairs to fold separations on the reverse.
