Nelson Mandela's twice-signed bilingual copy of South Africa's constitution

Rare signed book: Republic of South Africa Constitution Act (No. 32 of 1961). Pretoria: Die Staatsdrukker, 1974. Paperback, 6 x 8.25, 87 pages. Signed on the front wrapper in blue ink with his ownership signature, "N. R. Mandela, 466/64," and on the first page in black ballpoint, "N. R. Mandela." In fine condition, with light sunning to the spine and a few hole punches below a "Paid" notation in the upper right corner of the first page.

This volume contains the South African Constitution of 1961, as amended by several later acts (through "Act 77 of 1974"). Under the terms of the constitution, South Africa left the Commonwealth and became a republic. This constitution remained the fundamental law of South Africa for two decades, until its repeal in 1983.
