Description

American composer and pianist of the Romantic period (1860-1908). ALS signed “E. A. MacDowell,” one page, 4.75 x 6.75, Columbia University (Department of Music) letterhead, October 27, 1903. Handwritten letter to noted music patron Dr. Edward Keffer, in full: “I am ashamed to say that in some occult manner your letter to me has disappeared with my having opened it. I left it on my desk with other mail expecting to read it after my lectures here, but could not find it which is most mysterious. Could you let me have a replica of it. I hate to bother you but it seems inevitable.” In fine condition.
