Exceptional archive of 33 original vintage circa 1976-77 photographs of images taken by the Viking 1 orbiter, including four chromogenic color photos and 29 black-and-white silver gelatin photos, all 10 x 8, most with affixed NASA mimeographed captions and "This Paper Manufactured by Kodak" watermarks on the reverse. The color photos include two 'half-hemisphere' images of Mars from June 1976, and two close-up images of its surface from October 1976. The black-and-white photos include five 'half-hemisphere' photos of Mars, several high-resolution close-ups of the planet's surface, a Martian dust storm, two of the Martian moon Phobos, and numerous mapping mosaics of the surface of Mars, one of which indicates the landing site selected for the Viking 1 lander. In overall fine condition.
