Desirable pairing of the first black-and-white and color photographs taken by the Viking 2 lander on the surface of Planet Mars: an original vintage circa 1976 glossy 10 x 8 silver gelatin photo of Viking 2's first picture on the surface of Mars, taken minutes after the spacecraft touched down on September 3, 1976, showing its footpad amidst the rocky Martian terrain; and an original vintage circa 1976 chromogenic color 10 x 8 photo of the first color picture taken by Viking 2 on the Martian surface, showing a boulder-laden reddish landscape much like that seen by Viking 1, which had landed more than 4,000 miles away in July. In overall fine condition.
