Description

Son of President Abraham Lincoln (1843-1926) who served as secretary of war in the Garfield and Arthur administrations. ALS signed “Robert T. Lincoln,” one page, 8 x 10, Legation of the United States, London letterhead, July 13, 1889. Handwritten letter to John D'Arcy Connolly, in part: "I have to acquaint you of your recognition by the British Government as Consul at Auckland and enclose herewith your commission and exequatur, receipt of which you will kindly acknowledge to the legation." In very good to fine condition, with light toning and soiling, and a stains/tear on the lower mailing fold.
