General in the Continental Army (1725–1806) who served throughout Georgia, North Carolina, and at Fort Pitt, but is best remembered for killing Declaration Signer Button Gwinnett in a duel in 1777. Uncommon ink signature, "Lach'n McIntosh,” on an off-white 8.5 x 3.25 sheet clipped from the bottom of a shipping document dated December 24, 1792. In very good to fine condition, with irregular staining, affecting appearance but not the signature.
