Description

American admiral (1801-1870) who was a flag officer of the Navy during the Civil War. LS signed “D. G. Farragut,” one page, 5 x 7.5, July 6, 1869. Letter to Thomas Russell, in part: "I have received your favor…and hasten to say that much as I would like to do so, it will not be in my power to accept Mr. Peabody's kind invitation…I have many engagements ahead and at the time mentioned expect to be away from this city." Matted and framed with a portrait and patriotic eagle device accomplished by noted artist Scott Prior to an overall size of 29 x 25. In fine condition.
