Description

Appealing set of eight vintage photos of track events from the Berlin 1936 Summer Olympics, glossy and pearl-finish, ranging in size from 6 x 8 to 10 x 8, with the reverse of each photo bearing press caption stamps from media agencies like Sport & General (London), London News Agency, Presse Bild Zentrale, Presse Illustration Hoffman, Central Press Photo Ltd., and Das Sportbild von Schirner; a few also bear affixed caption labels. The photos contain the following images:

Harold Whitlock of Great Britain getting a refreshment during the 50-kilometer walk, which he won with a time of 4:30:41.4.

Italy’s Trebisonda Valla during the 80-meter hurdles race, which she narrowly won with a time of 11.7.

Jack Lovelock of New Zealand poised to win the gold in the 1500-meter final.

Four runners during the 10,000-meter event, which shows Ilmari Salminen of Finland (who won gold, with teammates Arvo Askola and Volmari iso-Hollo, and Kohei Murakoso of Japan.

American Archie Williams about to cross the finish line during the 400-meter final.

American Glenn Hardin leaping over a hurdle during the 400-meter race.

American John Woodruff running in the 800-meter race, poised to win a gold medal.

Jack Lovelock leading the pack in the 1,500-meter final.

In overall very good to fine condition, with scattered creases and marks, and a couple of tape-repaired tears.
