Description

Revolutionary War general, first United States Secretary of War, and founder of the military school that became West Point (1750–1806). Revolutionary War–dated ALS signed “H. Knox,” one page, 7.75 x 12.25, June 30, 1782. Handwritten letter to "Colonel Brooks," in full: "I enclose a rough draught of a memorial and petition to the assembly and Senate, I do not remember whether the Governor ought to be included in the address. I should have sent it yesterday but I could not find an opportunity. I earnestly request that you and Colonel Sheperd would make any additions, alterations, or erasements that you may think proper." Handsomely cloth-matted and framed with an engraved portrait and descriptive plaque to an overall size of 27 x 25. In fine condition.
