The only resident peer in late colonial America (1693–1781) who administered his vast Northern Neck Proprietary from his wilderness estate at Greenway Court, Virginia; though an avowed Loyalist, Fairfax kept quiet about his views, and he was known to be close to George Washington, whom he had once employed to survey his lands lying west of the Blue Ridge. Manuscript DS, signed “Fairfax,” one page, 7.25 x 9, no date. Land warrant for "about 200 acres" of land, with a few words in Fairfax's hand and a few sections left blank. Prominently signed at the conclusion in ink by Fiarfax. Nicely cloth-matted and framed with a portrait and biographical caption to an overall size of 24.5 x 21.25. In fine condition.
