Description

Partly-printed DS, signed “John Thompson,” one page, 8 x 6.5, March 3, 1827. Seaman’s protection certificate issued at Philadelphia to "William Rouse, an American Seamna, aged 21 years, or thereabouts, of the height of 5 feet 9 3/4 inches, has curly hair, and yellow complexion, a scar on the left leg, who being duly sworn did depose and say, That he is a native of Sassafras, Eastern Shore, in the State of Maryland. Signed at the conclusion by William Rouse with his mark, certified by Thomas Wood with his mark, and endorsed at the bottom by Justice of the Peace John Thompson. Nicely mounted, cloth-matted, and framed with an engraved plaque to an overall size of 15.5 x 21. In fine condition, with light soiling and small stains.
