Scarce Farmers Bank check (Canton, Ohio), 7.5 x 2.75, filled out in another hand and made payable to President William McKinley for $722.41, January 5, 1899. Endorsed on the reverse in black ink as president, “Wm. McKinley.” The check is signed by Thomas H. St. John, who has also signed the 2-cent revenue stamp affixed to the left side, and the reverse bears three bank stamps, with one issuing payment to the American Security and Trust Company. In fine condition, with light soiling and some minor edge loss.
