Description

Scarce spiral-bound National Broadcasting Company (NBC) reference book documenting the company’s around-the-clock coverage of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination and its subsequent aftermath, including key events like the announcement of JFK’s death, the identity and murder of assassin Lee Harvey Oswald, and a minute-by-minute of all funeral preparations. The booklet, 9 x 11, 124 pages, with the program title “J. F. Kennedy’s Death and Funeral,” features a cover page that reads: “At 1:18 a.m. on November 26, 1963, the NBC Television Network completed 70 hours and 36 minutes of continuous, comprehensive coverage of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, its aftermath and the first critical hours of the administration of President Lyndon B. Johnson. During this period all regularly scheduled programs and all commercials were cancelled. For the last 41 hours and 16 minutes of the period NBC-TV remained on the air continuously. The following pages are a chronology of this extraordinary broadcasting service, prepared by the NBC Program Analysis Department. They describe, hour by hour, the events a distressed nation watched on its television screens.” In fine condition. At NBC-TV, Chet Huntley, Bill Ryan, and Frank McGee anchored from the network's emergency ‘flash’ studio in New York, with reports from David Brinkley and Martin Agronsky in Washington, Charles Murphy and Tom Whelan from NBC affiliate WBAP-TV in Fort Worth, Texas, and Robert MacNeil, who had been in the motorcade, at Parkland Hospital.
