French composer (1819-1880) best known for his popular stage works, most notably Orpheus in the Underworld (including the famous 'Can-Can') and The Tales of Hoffmann. Two items: an untranslated ALS in French from Jacques Offenbach, one page, 3.75 x 5.75, October 10, 1871; and an off-white 12 x 9 sheet of staff paper, both sides of which contain autograph musical quotations penned neatly in the hand of Offenbach. In overall fine condition. Accompanied by a detached program front cover for the operetta La Vie parisienne and by a vintage H. Roger Viollet photo of Offenbach.
