French Catholic archbishop (1905-1991) who greatly influenced modern traditional Catholicism. In 1970, he founded the Society of Saint Pius X, a community to train seminarians, in the village of Écône, Switzerland. In 1988, he was excommunicated from the Catholic Church for consecrating four bishops against the express prohibition of Pope John Paul II. TLS in German on the back of a color 5.75 x 4.25 postcard of Marcel Lefebvre and the Society of Saint Pius X, September 18, 1986. A brief typed note, in full: "I bless you and your family and keep you in my prayers," with Lefebvre adding above, "Ave Maria!" In fine condition.
