ALS signed “Wm. H. Taft,” one page, 7.75 x 10, United States Circuit Court of Appeals (Judge's Chambers) letterhead, August 18, 1897. Addressed from his summer home at Pointe-au-Pic, a handwritten letter to George Leonard of Cincinnati, in full: “I enclose several letters for you to mail with directions on the back. Please send a list of our 1st year examination papers to Robert S. Alcorn to 50 Court Street Gallipolis Ohio. I may be at home Saturday morning Aug 18th instead of Sunday. If so, I shall advise you.” Taft adds a postscript: “Send a copy of our circular to Professor Charles N. Gregory, Associate Dean Law Schools, University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wisc." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original hand-addressed mailing envelope.
