Signed book: Fourth of July Oration: 1896. First edition. Boston: Boston City Council, 1896. Hardcover bound in full morocco with gilt-stamped titles and city seal, 5.75 x 9, 40 pages. Signed and inscribed on the first free end page in fountain pen, "To Mrs. Josephine Morgan, In reading over this oration I would not change a line particularly on immigration. Where would we be in the recent struggle if it were not for the immigrant stock which furnished millions to our Army and Navy. Sincerely, John F. Fitzgerald, Jan'y 21st, 1947." Autographic condition: fine, with light edge toning to the signed page. Book condition: G+/None, with edgewear and the spine partially separated from the textblock.
