LS in German, one page, 7.5 x 9.25, November 30, 1780. Letter to a councilor, sent from Potsdam, acknowledging receipt of a report. In part (translated): "That's all well and good. But I must know which one of the people suggested is the best and most capable and which one is possessed of the most honesty and industriousness. I wish you a long life still, but in the event of your departure, I really would like to be assured as to whom I could entrust matters to." In fine condition, with a bit of faint dampstaining. Accompanied by the original transmittal cover, retaining its complete red wax seal on the reverse.
