Description

TLS, one page, 6 x 7.75, Princeton University letterhead, April 19, 1910. Letter to J. Hartford Chidester, in full: “I am very much heartened and cheered by your kind letter of the 18th. I am not conscious of any particular courage in saying the things that I feel obliged to say from time to time publicly, but I do feel very keenly the elements of opposition and the rising passion with which they express themselves, and it does me the deepest kind of good to have such letters as yours. I have read it with the warmest appreciation and with the most entire concurrence.” In fine condition, with some faint toning.
