American lawyer (1914-2001) who served as district attorney of Dallas County from 1951 to 1987, participating in two of the most famous court cases of the 20th century: the prosecution of Jack Ruby for killing Lee Harvey Oswald, and the U.S. Supreme Court's decision legalizing abortion, Roe v. Wade. TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, personal letterhead, July 8, 1974. Letter to N. R. Waters, Jr., in full: "I am returning the one dollar bill with my name on it for your daughter." In very good to fine condition, with some light creasing to the margins.
