Joe Kerwin's flown gold-plated sterling silver Gemini 5 Fliteline medallion, approximately 1″ diameter, with a raised design of the "8 Days or Bust" mission insignia on the front, and the reverse engraved: "August 21-29, 1965," and hallmarked "Sterling" at the bottom. Condition is mint state, with some minor tarnishing to edges and reverse. Accompanied by a signed letter of provenance from Kerwin, in part: "The plated silver Gemini 5 medal accompanying this letter, known also as a Fliteline medal, was flown aboard the Gemini 5 mission with Gordon Cooper and Charles Conrad, Jr., August 21-29, 1965. As a member of the Astronaut Flight Office, I had the privilege of purchasing a flown medal for this mission. This medal is from my personal collection.” A desirable example given that only 10 of the purported 100 Fliteline medals that flew on the Gemini 5 mission were plated with gold.
