NASA astronaut Jim McDivitt’s lot of 12 original vintage glossy NASA photos related to the function and testing of the Gemini space suit and spacecraft, each approximately 10 x 8 and numbered in the upper left corner. With the exception of one space suit photo, each example is entitled along the top, and read as follows: “EVA at Simulated 150,000 Feet, MAC Pressure Chamber-3/24/65,” “Gemini Extravehicular Space Suit,” “Maneuvering Control,” “Abort Procedures,” “Gemini Parachute Landing Sequence,” “Liquid Rocket Systems General Arrangement,” “Spacecraft Responses to Orbit Attitude Control Thrust,” “RCS Function,” “G-4C Space Suit Qualification Tests,” and “Chamber Vent System Qualification Testing.” The reverse of four photos bear black NASA caption text, and the balance features purple NASA caption text with the ‘meatball’ logo, all of which are dated to May 1965. In overall fine condition, with some light edgewear like creases or short tears. Accompanied by a letter of provenance stating that the photos were purchased at the McDivitt family estate sale held in Tucson, Arizona, on April 1, 2022.
