Belgian author (1903-1989) best known for his Inspector Maigret detective novels. Two items: an original felt tip sketch by Georges Simenon of his popular sleuth, Detective Jules Maigret, with trademark pipe, bowler hat, and thick overcoat, accomplished on a white 5.75 x 4 personal correspondence card, signed and dated at the bottom by Simenon; and a color glossy 6 x 4 close-up photo of the author smoking his pipe, signed and inscribed in black felt tip. In very fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope for the sketch.
