English physician (1766-1844) who served as president of the Royal College of Physicians for 24 years. He was physician extraordinary to King George III from 1793 to 1820, then physician in ordinary to his three successors: George IV, William IV, and the young Victoria. ALS, one page, 4.5 x 7, August 11, 1842. Handwritten letter, in part: "I cannot enlarge my order—Your book may be sent to Curzon St. London, where my servant shall have orders to receive it and pay for it." In fine condition, with a rusty circular paperclip impression to the top.
