Description

American lawyer and jurist (1899-1971) who served as an Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court from 1955 to 1971, following in the footsteps of his grandfather of the same name, who served on the Court from 1877 to 1911. Block of four 4¢ postage stamps honoring Supreme Court Justice Charles Evans Hughes, signed in the lower border in black ballpoint, "John M. Harlan." In fine condition, with a trivial crease to the lower left corner.
