Description

King of the Netherlands, Grand Duke of Luxembourg, and Duke of Limburg (1792-1849); during his reign, the Netherlands became a parliamentary democracy with the new constitution of 1848. Scarce ALS in French, signed “Guillaume Pr d'Orange,” one page, both sides, 7.25 x 9, February 6, 1827. Addressed from Brussels, a handwritten letter to an unnamed Marquis, which reads, in full (translated): “I have just received the note that you have taken the trouble to write me and I thank you with my whole heart for its contents. I have had and continue to have a sincere concern for your indisposition, but I console myself that you are well on the road to convalescence, thanks to your household; above all, you are not afflicted in your chest. It is with the intention to spare you the need to speak that I have absented myself and have not come to see you despite my great desire to do so. It will only be when I am completely assured that you can receive visitors without fear of tiring you that you will see me, while waiting for your speedy and complete recovery.” In fine condition.
