One of the most important creators of the French Revolutionary Army (1753-1823); he voted for the death of Louis XVI and was appointed by Napoleon to the post of Minister of War. Manuscript DS in French, signed “Carnot,” one page both sides, 8.25 x 12.75, May 1, 1796. Untranslated document headed "Extrait Des Registres des Deliberations du Directoire Executif," signed at the conclusion by Carnot as president. In very good to fine condition, with a few edge tears and a rusty circular paperclip impression to the lower right.
