World War II-dated TLS signed “H. H. Arnold,” one page, 8 x 10.5, War Department, Headquarters of the Army Air Forces letterhead, March 1, 1944. Letter to Theodore R. Stillwell, in part: "Your message indicates that you are aware of our difficulties as well as our accomplishments, and therefore, your generous remarks commending the work that has been done by the individual air forces throughout the world are truly appreciated. Consistent with your request I am sending you a copy of my Report to the Secretary of War which lists the Commanding Officers of our 15 training and combat air forces, and in addition, furnishes a factual and historical story of the Army Air Forces from the beginning of its great expansion to the present time. With this is sent you the photograph you requested.” In fine condition. Accompanied by the referenced photograph and by a certificate of authenticity from JSA.
