Three official NASA photos related to the Viking 1 spacecraft, which touched down on Mars on July 20 1976, becoming the first successful Mars lander in history, where it operated for 2307 days (over 6 1⁄4 years). The photos, 8 x 10 and 10 x 8, include: a vintage color semi-glossy photo of the lander with American flag deca and Martian surface in the background, with the reverse bearing an affixed caption and Kodak watermarks; a vintage glossy photo of the Viking orbiter/lander, with NASA caption text to reverse; and a color semi-glossy photo of the Titan IIIE/Centaur rocket that launched the mission. In overall fine condition, with a short edge tear and small creases to the glossy photo.
