Description

Versatile American industrialist, inventor, and politician (1791-1883) who designed the first steam locomotive built in the United States. Partly-printed DS, one page, 8.75 x 6.75, March 1846. New York Public School certificate, in part: "This Premium was presented to Maria Nunns as a testimonial of the approbation of her Teacher & the School Committee for regular & punctual attendance with correct deportment and diligent attention to her studies during the month of March 1846." Signed at the conclusion by Cooper as a committee member, and by the teacher, Caroline Whiting. Matted and framed with a portrait bearing a facsimile signature to an overall size of 16.25 x 23.25. In fine condition.
