Handwritten letter to George Philler, cashier of the Bank of Pennsylvania, written on behalf of his father. In part: "I take leave to enclose you herewith Certificate No. 1595 of Pennsylv'a 5 per ct stock of 1840 dated 23 April 1844 for $5000 pble 1870, also Certificate no. 3417 of Pennsyl'a 5 per ct stock dated 30 April 1844 for $5000 pble in 1854 both certificates in the name of Banker Brothers & Co. Phila: and by endorsement transferred to me. Please send me new Certificates in my name for this stock." Nicely matted and framed with a portrait of John Jacob Astor (bearing a facsimile signature) to an overall size of 21.5 x 14. In fine condition.
