Description

Soldier and son of King George II who oversaw the reorganization of the British Army, establishing vital structural, administrative, and recruiting reforms (1763-1827). ALS signed "Frederick," one page, 7.5 x 9.25, January 3, 1798. Handwritten letter from "Horse Guards," regarding a letter from his sister, Princess Charlotte, who was Queen of Württemberg as the wife of King Frederick I. In part: "I have many excuses to make to you for not having acknowledged sooner the receipt of your obliging letter…enclosing one to me from the Hereditary Princess of Wertemberg…I have many thanks to return you for the communication of the Paragraph of the Hereditary Prince's letter to you, which clearly proves how thoroughly happy and contented both he and My Sister are, which is every thing which can be wanted for them." In fine condition, with light toning. Accompanied by an engraved portrait of Prince Frederick.
