German prince (1579-1650) of the House of Ascania and ruler of the unified principality of Anhalt, remembered as the founder of the Fruitbearing Society, which sought to standardize vernacular German and promote it as both a scholarly and literary language. Manuscript DS in German, one page both sides, 7.25 x 11.75, October 22, 1633. Untranslated document about the courts of justice during the Thirty Years' War, signed at the conclusion by Louis I as Prince of Anhalt-Köthen. In very good to fine condition, with a rusty circular paperclip impression to the top, several small edge tears, and overall toning.
