ALS, one page, 4.5 x 7, May 21, 1920. Handwritten letter to a gentleman, offering advice on writing. In full: "Nothing leads so straight to futility as literary ambitions without systematic knowledge. Practice writing but do not be in any hurry to publish. And get all the science and history you can." He adds a postscript, with a few words extending onto the reverse: "Get a university degree if you can with a special development of history, biology and psychology. The writing can wait." In fine condition.
