Stephenson,” one page both sides, 8 x 10, June 9, 1841. Handwritten letter to engineer F. M. Young, in part: "I am really overwhelmed with applications upon all my old assistants and pupils and should derive sincere pleasure if I were in a position to respond to them. The prospects in Engineering are very dull indeed and I do not see the way to much amendment. I have little or nothing in hand and only 2 or 3 small branch lines…Had I a situation to offer, you of course would stand near the top of my list." In very good to fine condition, with a few small edge tears, light creases, and a rusty circular paperclip impression to the top.
