Author, explorer, and special correspondent for the New York Herald (1841-1904), most famous for his inquiry, ‘Dr. Livingstone, I presume?,’ upon finding David Livingstone, a fellow explorer who had become lost in the wilds of Africa. Ink signature, "Henry M. Stanley, Parker House, Dec. 11, 1872,” on an off-white 5.75 x 2.5 slip affixed to a same-size sheet. In fine condition, with light toning along the side edges from old mounting remnants on the back.
