Description

Civil War-dated partly-printed DS, one page, 8 x 10, May 16, 1864. Navy Department order to Acting Master Charles H. Hamilton, in part: "Proceed to Philadelphia Penn. without delay and report to Commodore Stribling for duty on board the U.S.S. Juniata." Signed at the conclusion by Secretary of the Navy Gideon Welles, and endorsed on the reverse by Cornelius Stribling and others. In fine condition, with some light creasing and soiling.
