Description

Real estate and railroad entrepreneur and president of the Standard Oil Company (1830-1913) who set out to make Florida the 'Newport of the South' by providing extensive rail access and grand hotels to lure wealthy vacationers. Partly-printed DS, signed “H. M. Flagler,” one page, 10.75 x 7.75, June 22, 1897. Stock certificate for fifty shares of the Standard Oil Trust assigned to "J. T. Bush," featuring a handsome vignette of the United States Capitol. Signed at the conclusion by Flagler as the company's secretary. The receipt is affixed along the left edge. The reverse documents the 1897 transfer to N. Boughton. In fine condition.
