Description

Third chief justice of the United States (1745-1807) and delegate to the Constitutional Congress who later submitted the amendments which became the Bill of Rights. Revolutionary War-dated manuscript DS, signed “O. Ellsworth,” one page, 8 x 4.25, June 10, 1776. Colonial Connecticut pay order issued to Treasurer John Laurence to compensate Deodat Little "the sum of Thirty one pounds one shilling & one half penny money for Eighty nine pounds of Salt Petre." Signed at the conclusion by Oliver Ellsworth and Thomas Seymour. In fine condition, with a small chip to the left edge.
