Description

Political leader from Pennsylvania best known for engrossing the Declaration of Independence on parchment (1736-1829). Partly-printed vellum DS, signed “T. Matlack D.P.C.,” one page, 20 x 21, January 26, 1820. Deed poll issued by Caleb North, sheriff of the city and county of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Frederick Uber, concerning the estate of a relative. In part: "I was commanded, that without any other writ, of the lands and tenements which were of Adam Uber…Together with the hereditaments and appurtenances in my Bailiwick, I should cause to be made and levied as well a certain debt of three hundred dollars lawful money of the United States." Signed at the conclusion by Matlack as Prothonotary of the District Court, signed twice by Caleb North, and by two witnesses. In fine condition.
