TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, Cornell University letterhead, May 31, 1977. Letter regarding the Viking project, in part: "I apologize for the long delay in replying but I have been inundated with my Viking mission operations responsibilities and am just now emerging from the flood of backed-up correspondence. To answer your question: In my view, the spectacular success of the United States' Viking missions to Mars was far and away the highlight of our country's bicentennial year. We have entered the golden age of planetary exploration and are just now beginning to find the answers to some of mankind's oldest and most intriguing questions." In fine condition.
