Invitation for the Alexander McQueen fashion show, ‘The Overlook,' presented at London's Gatliff Road Warehouse on February 23, 1999, as part of the designer’s Autumn/Winter 1999/2000 collection. The typescript invitation 8.25 x 11.75 mirrors a page from the typewriter of Jack Torrance, the lead character from the classic 1980 horror film The Shining, who goes mad while serving as the off-season caretaker of the isolated Overlook Hotel. The page repeats the line: “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” The upper portion features embossed letterhead, “The Overlook,” and the lower portion lists event, venue, contact, and buyer information; the invitation is issued to “Cresside Pye” for seat “EF2.” A gold star sticker is affixed to the lower right corner. In very good to fine condition, with light creasing and small tears to top and bottom edges.
