Edison's interest in Tennessee's mineral deposits

TLS signed “Thos. A. Edison,” one page, 8.5 x 11, From the Laboratory of Thomas A. Edison letterhead, February 14, 1922. Letter to Wilbur A. Nelson, State Geologist of Tennessee, in part: "I would like very much to have samples of the Potash Slates, and thank you for your offer to send some. Will you kindly address the package to my assistant, W. W. Meadowcroft…I would like to ask you a few questions in regard to Bentonite: (1) Are the Bentonite deposits large? (2) Can they be worked by steam shovel? (3) What is the depth, width and pitch of the deposits?" In very good to fine condition, with some creasing, light toning, minor paper loss, and portions of the type light but fully legible.
